Why Work With Me?

As a licensed psychologist with specialized training in parenting support, I'm passionate about helping parents reduce stress and anxiety while building confidence in their parenting journey.

Since launching my parenting blog in 2017, I've built a career around translating psychological research into practical parenting guidance. I served as a parenting advice columnist for Parents.com for three years and currently sit on their medical review board. My work has been featured in The Washington Post, Scary Mommy, Good Housekeeping, Motherly, Psychology Today, and other leading publications.

I'm the author of the award-winning book Autonomy-Supportive Parenting: Reduce Parental Burnout and Raise Competent, Confident Children (2023) and the children's emotions journal In Your Feels for ages 8-12 (2024). My expertise has been featured across major media outlets including NPR, NBC News Daily, The Atlantic, New York Times, and BBC. I also co-host the popular Psychologists Off the Clock podcast and regularly appear as a guest expert on parenting topics.

While I love creating science-based, empowering content for parents, my greatest fulfillment comes from working directly with families. I understand the tension between society's impossible standards of "perfect parenting" and the beautiful, messy reality of raising children. In our work together, I help parents shed constraining ideals and embrace authentic parenthood—creating space for healthier families to thrive.

Individual Therapy Services

Though I currently specialize in parenting stress and anxiety, I bring over two decades of therapy experience working with children, teens, and adults since 2002. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while prioritizing the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for meaningful change.

As a health psychology specialist, I'm certified in both general hypnotherapy and gut-directed hypnotherapy. I'm licensed in Illinois and participate in PsyPact, an interstate compact that allows me to provide telehealth services across participating states.

Parent Coaching Services

I offer flexible, customized parent coaching without the pressure of expensive long-term packages. We'll begin with a single consultation—no commitment required—and together decide if additional support would benefit your family.

Parents consistently tell me what makes the difference is that I meet them exactly where they are—whether that's feeling insecure, overwhelmed, or stuck—and help them build confidence to move forward with clarity and purpose.

What You'll Get:

  • A truly judgment-free space where we celebrate both the joys and challenges of parenting with compassion and understanding

  • Science-backed strategies that create lasting change (because busy parents need solutions that actually stick)

  • Customized guidance tailored specifically to your child and family—not one-size-fits-all advice from a parenting manual

  • Insider knowledge on navigating the mental health system for your child when needed

Are you a parent who needs practical solutions, not perfect parenting theories?

This is for you.

Important Information

  • All sessions are conducted virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

  • I'm an out-of-network provider, meaning I don't bill insurance companies directly. However, I provide detailed invoices (superbills) for therapy sessions that can often be submitted for reimbursement through your insurance, Flexible Spending Account, or Health Savings Account. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network benefits.

Note: Some employers offer coaching services as a health benefit—check with your HR department to see if this applies to you.

  • I accept credit cards and Zelle. Payment is due at the time of service, and I can set up automatic billing for your convenience.

  • I require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Except in rare emergencies, clients will be charged for no-shows and cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice.
